Narrow Channels

In narrow channels, a smaller vessel, even if it is the stand-on vessel, must give way to large vessels. Large vessels are less maneuverable and have restricted visibility; therefore pleasure craft should stay clear of them.

Additionally, if two vessels meet in a narrow channel where tide or river flow creates dangerous currents, the
vessel that is moving down river automatically has the right of way.

When in a narrow channel, vessels must keep as near as is safe and practical to the outer limit of a narrow
channel on their starboard side. Never anchor in a narrow channel unless you are in real danger or have broken
down.
