Do all boat operators in Calgary need a boating license?

Anybody who operates a motorboat in Calgary must have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (Boating License) or other proof of competency, regardless of engine horsepower or age of the operator.

How do I obtain a boating license in Calgary?

You can obtain your Calgary PCOC by completing our free online boating safety course and passing the Transport Canada PCOC exam. Does my Calgary boating license expire?

What age do I need to be to get a boating license in Calgary?

There is no minimum age for obtaining a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. As long as you are old enough to take the online boating safety course and pass the online exam you are old enough to get a boating license in Calgary. Remember, your boating license never expires!

Are there age and horsepower restrictions in Calgary?

In Calgary, horsepower restrictions apply to operators under 16 years of age. Youths less than 16 years of age may not operate boats in Calgary with motors over certain horsepower limits unless someone 16 years of age or older, and certified, is directly supervising them from inside the boat.

You must be 16 years of age or older to operate a PWC / jet ski in Calgary.

Is the Calgary boating license valid in all other Canadian provinces?

Your Pleasure Craft Operator Card (boating license) is valid in all Canadian provinces and territories.

What happens if I lose my Calgary boating license?
