Boating In Quebec

Quebec is the largest province in Canada. The two main cities are Montreal and Quebec City, which are connected by the St Lawrence River. Quebec is just as hugely popular for boating with many wonderful waterways to explore. Get your Quebec boating license today and start exploring!

St Lawrence River

The main river in Quebec and the most popular for boating is the St Lawrence River. It is about 1300km long, beginning in Lake Ontario and running through Montreal and Quebec City before meeting the Gulf of St Lawrence. The St Lawrence River is an important river as it connects the Great Lakes with the Atlantic Ocean and is also an international boundary between Canada and the US. A must-see when boating on the St Lawrence River is the 1000 islands, which is packed with beautiful scenery and history. The St. Lawrence and these beautiful islands are a boating adventure you don’t want to miss.

Lake Mistassini

Lake Mistassini is the largest natural lake in Quebec. It is 160km long  and narrow. The lake is hugely popular with boaters and fishermen, with many species of fish to be caught here. Lake Mistassini is a remote lake about a 9hr drive from Montreal and it is also accessible by plane or float plane. The village of Mistassini at the southeastern part of Lake Mistassini is where you will find accommodation, restaurants and stores before heading off on your boating adventure. Just don’t forget to carry your Quebec Boating License (PCOC) while boating in Quebec.

Lake Kipawa

Lake Kipawa is located on the southwest side of Quebec close to the Ontario border. The lake is a popular summer spot for Quebec locals and tourists, with many staying in the cottages that dot Lake Kipawa’s shorelines. You can enjoy the long summer days exploring the spectacular coastline by boat and stop for a swim at some of the many sandy beaches. Lake Kipawa is a popular spot for both fishing and diving, with its clear waters it’s perfect to explore the sunken boats from years ago. Lake Kipawa is an ideal location for a boating adventure with all the family.

Grand Lac Saint-Francois

Grand Lac Saint-Francois is located south of Quebec City near the Maine border. This beautiful and peaceful lake offers a fun day out for everyone. If you are looking to spend a few days exploring, why not stay at the Parc du Grand lac St-François campground located right on the water’s edge with a boat launch and dock to leave your boat at ready for your next days adventure.  Grand Lac Saint-Francois is a wonderful spot for a little boating getaway.

Quebec is home to the mighty St Lawrence River, so grab your Quebec Boating License and go explore.
