Do I need a boating license in Ontario?

Having an Ontario boating license, also known as a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), is a mandatory requirement for operating a pleasure craft in Ontario. By obtaining a PCOC, boaters can demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate a vessel.

You can obtain an Ontario boating license in 3 easy steps:

Here are some FAQ’s about the Ontario boating license test:

How many questions are on the Ontario boating test?

The Transport Canada PCOC exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. To pass the exam, a score of at least 75% (38 out of 50) is required.

Is the exam open book?

Yes – the exam is open book. You can use our online course material or our free course manual PDF to review any questions you are not sure of.

How long do I have to complete the exam?

The Ontario boating license exam has a time limit of 75 minutes to complete. You do not have to complete the exam in one sitting – you can leave the exam and log back in to complete it when you are ready.

Is the Ontario boating license exam hard?
